American Trade Hotel
Built in the former American Trade Developing Co. Building (constructed in 1917), the design of this fifty-room boutique hotel combines the nostalgia for Panama's heyday with a modern, eclectic style. The hotel, opened in late 2013, is positioned in the center of the bustling, developing community of the Casco Viejo, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1997, in Panama City.
The American Trade Hotel was one of Dutch East’s founding partners’ first hospitality project, and represents the beginning of what is now a ten year - and counting - relationship with The Casco. The project is a testament to the studio’s dedication to its projects, and set the course for making highly contextual responses in their designs - a strategy at the core of hospitality design.
